What are we doing to help?

Everfund is part of a growing group of ambitious businesses changing the course of carbon removal with Stripe Climate. We have recently made the decision to donate 1% of our revenue to removing carbon from the atmosphere. 100% of the funds Stripe Climate receives will go towards accelerating the development of carbon removal technologies.

Why are we funding carbon removal?

We have chosen to do this because as a company, we feel very strongly about the disastrous impact that carbon emissions are having on our environment. Data from NASA shows that the planet's average surface temperature has risen about 1.18 degrees Celsius since the late 19th century, a change caused mostly by increased carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere combined with other human activities. Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment shows that Greenland lost an average of 279 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019, while Antarctica lost about 148 billion tons of ice per year.

Not only are excessive carbon emissions ruining our environment, they are also having a knock on effect on businesses and workers. One industry that has been particularly impacted is farming, with unusual weather patterns such as droughts impacting crop yields and resulting in a loss of resources that causes food prices to rise.

To limit global temperature increases to pre-industrial levels, global emissions need to be reduced to net zero by 2050. To accomplish this, we need to remove carbon that is already in the atmosphere and greatly reduce the new emissions put into the air. Therefore, we are doing our bit to reduce the impacts of climate change by providing funding to permanently remove carbon from the atmosphere.

At Everfund we are committed to helping people donate to amazing charities in the most streamlined way possible and helping people to make a change using fundraising is very important to us. We are always looking for new ways to help make a positive difference, hence why we are very keen to be funding carbon removal.
